Wine Spectator 94 Points
This is round, exuding black cherry and blackberry flavors, allied to a pliable profile. The acidity and tannins emerge on the finish, where everything falls into place. Fine freshness, tobacco and mineral details emerge in the end. Best from 2020 through 2033. 2,000 cases made- BS
Another great Brunello from Lisini – the 2012 vintage was superb for richness and texture. Having said that, Lisini concentrate on a traditional style in which ripe red and dark fruit with florals and cured meat nuances wrap around a structure of fresh acid and ripe but sturdy tannins. This sense of body is helped by the iron richness in the sandy clay-silt soils, which lie at 300-350 metres of altitude. With a proper density and structure, but also heaps of natural finesse and unfolding complexity, this is a Brunello treasure!
ABOUT THE PRODUCER: LISINI
“Lisini is one of Montalcino’s historic, reference-point estates.”—Antonio Galloni, February 2015
“Boutique winery Lisini makes quintessential Brunellos that perfectly demonstrate their exclusively Sangiovese origins. Given the cult status and high demand of Lisini Brunellos, these bottlings easily put to rest the idea that what people really want is a little Merlot blended into their Brunellos. Rather than overoak, overextract, or overripen, the firm prefers to craft its classic offerings with the denominations tried and true winemaking methods.’’—Kerin O’Keefe, Brunello di Montalcino
