Translated, O’Lillo means “hello, my beautiful friend,” and this special Italian offering from Tuscany engenders that reaction upon experiencing it. The wine was put into conical oak tanks for 22 days for maceration and malolactic fermentation, followed by six months in stainless steel tanks to complete alcoholic fermentation and then an additional three months in bottles. Out came a well balanced, delicious wine whose 2012 vintage was awarded 92 points by Wine Spectator, and whose 2011 vintage was awarded 90 points by James Suckling. O’Lillo is rich in color and has a nose experience similar to a fantastic Bordeaux, but is soft yet complex on the palate, presenting cherries, blueberries without the sugar, licorice, vanilla, chocolate and a touch of tobacco. This intricate wine is well-paired with grilled meat, lasagna, rich pastas and risotto.
Brilliant ruby color. Complex, elegant nose with hints of spice, vanilla, and ripe berries. Intensely fruit-forward and accessible with soft tannins.
